NK leader says nuclear deterrence will guarantee national safety permanently

 

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said the country's nuclear deterrence will permanently guarantee national security, as he marked the anniversary of the end of the 1950-53 Korean War, state media reported Tuesday.

 

북한의 지도자 김정은이 국가의 핵 제지는 국가안전을 영구적으로 보장하는 게 될 것이라고 1950-1953 한국전쟁 종전 기념일에 강조했다고 화요일 매체를 통해 전해졌습니다.

> 김정은이 남북전쟁 기념일에 매체를 통해 국가의 핵 제지, 즉 비핵화는 영구적으로 국가의 안전을 보장하게 되는것이라고 전했습니다.

Kim made the remark during a speech at a national conference of veterans held Monday to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Korean Central News Agency.

 

'김'은 한국 중앙 뉴스보도국이 주관하는 67번째 기념일을 기념하는 월요일에 열린 참전영웅 국가 컨퍼런스 연설에서 재강조 했습니다.

The Korean War ended in an armistice signed on July 27, 1953, which leaves South and North Korea technically in a state of war.

 

한국전쟁은 남과 북에 전쟁 기술부분을 최첨단으로 만들어 주고, 1953년 7월 27일 휴전에 서명하면서 끝이 났습니다.

The North calls the war the Fatherland Liberation War and designated the armistice singing date as Victory Day.

 

북은 남북전쟁을 조국해방전쟁이라고 부르며, 휴전서명일을 승전일이라고 지정했습니다.

"Thanks to our reliable and effective self-defense war deterrence, there will no longer be war on this land and our national security and future will be firmly guaranteed permanently," Kim was quoted as saying by KCNA.

 

김이 KCNA에서 했던말을 인용하면 다음과 같다.  "우리의 신뢰 할 만한, 효과적인 자체방어 전쟁제재에 감사한다, 더 이상의 전쟁은 이 땅, 우리의 사회에서 없을 것이며, 미래에도 영원할 것이라고 보장한다."

"Bearing in mind that we should have a strong power to safeguard the fate of our country and people, we will never stop honing the most powerful national defense capacity that cannot be matched by anyone else," he added.

 

"우리의 국가와 국민의 운명을 보호할 강한 힘을 가지고 있음을 기억하며 견뎌야 한다. 우리는 절대 가장 강력한, 어느 누구와도 대적할 수 없는 국가 방어체계를 연마를 멈추지 않을 것이다." 라고 덧 붙였다.

Kim said that fierce struggles with enemies have continued since the Korean War and that pressure from imperialists has also increased, apparently referring to the United States against which it fought during the war.

 

김은 적들에게서 부터 대항하는 공포는 한국전쟁이 끝나고 부터 계속되었고, 제국주의자들로부터 오는 압박또한 증가되어 왔다고 말했는데, 이는 전쟁동안 미국이 싸우는 것을 말하는것으로 보여진다.

He added that the pressure was the reason why the North had sought nuclear programs that he believes now help his country defend itself against outside threats.

 

그는 이러한 압력이, 외부의 위협에 반해 북한 스스로를 방어해야 하기 때문에, 북이 핵 프로그램을 추구하는 이유라고 덧 붙였다.

"We have become a country that can strongly and reliably protect ourselves against any type of high intensity pressure and military threats and blackmail," Kim said. "War is a military conflict with somebody who can be matchable. Now nobody can uderestimate us anymore. If so, it will have to pay prices dearly."

 

"우리는 군사적 위협과 블랙메일, 높고 강렬한 압력에 반하여 강하고 믿을만한 스스로의 방어를 할 수 있는 국가가 되었다." 고 김이 말했다. "전쟁은 필적할만한(견줄만한) 누군가와 군사적 충들을 하는것이다. 이제는 우리를 어느 누구도 과소평가하지 못한다. 만약 그렇다면(전쟁을 한다면) 그것은 엄청난 대가를 치뤄야 할 것이다."

This marked the first time since 2015 that Kim delivered a speech at the conference of war veterans.

 

이것은 2015년 김이 참전용사 연설에 참석한 이후 처음으로 강조되었다.

 

Observers say this year's event was aimed at tightening internal unity in the face of deepening economic fallout from the global coronavirus pandemic and crippling global sanctions that have been hurting North Korea's already frail economy.

 

관찰자들은 이번 연도의 이벤트는 전세계적인 코로나바이러스 대유행으로부터 마주하게 된 경제적 낙진과 이미 쇠약해진 북한의 경제를 전세계적 고립, 제재를 마주하며 내부의 결속을 다지는 데에 목적이 있다고 말했다.

The latest conference was also held as denuclearization negotiations between North Korea and the US have remained stalled since a no-deal summit in February last year. The two sides failed to find common ground on how to match Pyongyang's denuclearization steps with Washington's concessions.

 

가장 최근의 컨퍼런스는 작년 2월열린 여전히 노-딜로 남아있는 미국과 북한의 비핵화 협상이다. 양 측은 북한(평양)의 비핵화와 미국(워싱턴)의 양보를 어떻게 매치시킬지 공통점을 찾는데 실패했다.

Since the summit breakdown, the North has urged stepped-up efforts for self-reliance in every field, including military capacity, as it is bracing for a long haul fight against the US's pressure and sanctions.

 

정상 회담이 결렬된 이후로, 미국의 압박과 제재에 맞서 장기전에 위한 만큼 군사력을 포함한 모든 분야의 자력갱생 노력을 강화하라고 촉구했다.

The North held the first conference of war veterans in 1993, when it marked the 40th anniversary of the end of the war. The four others took place in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018, all after Kim took office in late 2011.

 

북은 1993년에 종전 40주년을 맞이하여 첫 번째 참전용사 회담을 열었다. 이후 2011년 김정은이 취임 한 후, 4번의 회담을 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018년에열었다. 

 

State media reported that fireworks were displayed in central Pyongyang to celebrate the anniversary of the end of the war and lots of people gathered to watch the events.

 

주요 매체는 종전기념일을 축하하기 위해 평양에서 불꽃놀이를 하고 많은 사람들이 모여 이 행사를 본다고 보도했다.
